Causes
Relaxin
Hormones flood through the body when we are pregnant. When it gets closer to childbirth, our body produces a hormone called relaxin which helps prepare the uterus and cervix for giving birth by relaxing ligaments and muscles. As the foetus continues to grow, pubic symphysis becomes separated, and the pelvis expands outwards to both sides. As a result of delivery, the level of relaxin declines, ligaments and muscles at the pelvis become loosened, pelvic floor becomes weakened, and causes extensive pelvic floor trauma, all of these changes make the bottoms sagging.
Always sitting
It is absolutely normal for women to spend time resting and sitting after the delivery for a speedy healing and feeding newborns. However, spending hours sitting means a fat accumulation at bottoms and abdomens. Also, sitting for too long definitely slows down circulation and weakens the muscles at the bottoms, over time, the bums will deform into an undefined, large and flat appearance.
