How sofwave works

Sofwave delivers ultrasound waves to the dermis, the waves convert to heat energy inside the skin and heat it up to 60-70 C, which will cause collagens to break down. When it heals, new collagens will be generated and rebuilt. Once the process has taken place, there is noticeable improvement of skin smoothness and reduction in fine lines/wrinkles. Sofwave device comes with an integrated cooling mechanism to maintain your comfort and prevent burning of the skin.

Who are the good candidates

In general, Sofwave is suitable for solving skin ageing problems for aged over 22. Practically, age is not ideal to decide who can have Sofwave treatment, signs of ageing should be the criteria instead. Sofware vs HIFU

• High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) only delivers sequentially tiny dots of ultrasound energy, which has a low intensity and effectiveness.Based on IUB(Intense Ultrasound Beam), Sofwave™ can deliver 7 parallel cylindrical, high-intensity energy beams, simultaneously to a heating zone of 35mm with increased area of 40%. This allows 13 times more heating coverage for a better stimulation of collagen production.

Sofwave vs Thermage:

• Thermage as a monopolar RF treatment, it heats up the skin in a volumetric heating way up to 45-55°C to a depth of the skin. It offers general skin tightening results and is equipped with an intermittent cooling system.
• Sofwave is equipped with a constant cooling system to provide better protection to the skin. It heats up the skin in a 3D cylindrical mechanism up to 65°C to a depth of 5mm-2mm.

Thermage addresses collagens in the skin, and the collagens are like the cement when building a house. Thermage promotes collagen regeneration through monopolar radio frequency, helping to reduce appearance of sagging skin and wrinkles. Thermage provides excellent results in skin tightening, however, its results in jowl lifting are not promising.

Ultherapy addresses SMAS (the fascia layer of the skin, which is located deeper than the collagen layer), SMAS is like steel bars when building a house. Without neat and strong steel bars, a house can not be strong and standing up by cement alone. Ultherapy has an important role of lifting and maintaining facial contour, but it has no effect on improving fine lines.

⚠ Pre-treatment

• Wear no make-up on the treatment day
• Avoid other medical aesthetic treatments, laser treatment, and the application of Retinol acid and salicylic acid within 7 days before the treatment.
• Make the doctor aware in advance if you have had injectable treatment or other lifting treatments within 14 days before the treatment.
• Notify the doctor in advance of the areas that have had fillers (nose job or silicone implant).
• Avoid smoking and drinking before the treatment, so as not to affect healing progress and stimulate pigmentation.
• If you have sunburn or peeling of the skin, it is advised to wait for the skin to completely heal before treatment.
• Avoid over-exposure to the Sun before the treatment.
• Treatment will avoid areas with open wounds, skin lesions or cystic acnes.
• Patients who have ever had allergic reactions to local anaesthetics or topical ointments should inform their doctors before the treatment.

⚠ Aftercare

• Your skin may look red and feel warm for a few hours, which is normal.
• Some people may have localised swelling, which will heal in 7-10 days.
• Your skin may get dry temporarily, keep your skin moisturised.
• In case of mild redness, swelling, blisters, or itching, you can apply the cream provided by the clinic (following doctor’s advice).
• Avoid laser treatment, skin exfoliation products, and skin care products containing acid, alcohol, fragrance for 7 days after the treatment.
• Avoid hot springs, swimming, saunas, and steam bath 2 weeks after the treatment. Showering is acceptable.
• Sun Cream (SPF30 or above) should be applied daily.
• Use lukewarm water and gentle cleanser to wash your face after the treatment. Cold and hot water can be irritated to the skin.
• Apply cream on the skin gently, do not overly rub the skin.
• Avoid smoking, alcohol, spicy food and pickled products, as they will inhibit the rebuild of collagen and stimulate free radical production
